We had a joint birthday party last week with another family and DH made a huge cake. The ingredients included about 1kg of dark chocolate, a litre of cream, 500g mascapone cheese...and other things. We made it in 4 layers, in the biggest tray we could find, and sandwiched it together with the cream filling. Flipping over the layers was an operation in itself!
The secret ingredient in the coffee cream filling? Not cream, but hoon kueh flour (or green bean flour), used in Nonya cakes for firmness without adding taste.
DH was up till about...oh, 3am the night before making it. We carried it over in a steel baking tray from our oven and the whole thing weighed a tonne. People seemed to like it- there wasn't that much left to take home later!
We also made curry buns, buns with sweet pork filling and mince pies. Sorry no pics of those.
